My name is Samantha Earls and I’m a mother of two boys. My eldest son was diagnosed with autism in 2015 and after the diagnosis I suddenly found myself in a world I knew nothing about, without support or guidance and full of questions about his future.
When he started nursery I was introduced to the complexities of the UK education system. I was told I needed to apply for an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) and had to sit in a boardroom making the case for why my son needed support. It was a 20-week process filled with paperwork and revisions, but was crucial to getting him the help he needed.
I threw myself into learning about ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders), attending seminars, parenting courses, support groups and speaking with other parents. No one should have to go through this alone. That’s why I now work to help families and carers navigate the system, advocate for their children and offer them support and guidance on their journey.
I help support parents and carers in the challenges of navigating EHCPs, meetings and schooling for children with ASD, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental challenges.
I also help schools improve inclusion, communication, and confidence in working with diverse learners. And most importantly, I stand up for children who learn and experience the world differently.
A real lived experience of working and living with autistic children enables me to be a compassionate mediator between families / carers and schools that is trusted by parents, SENCOs and education professionals.
I offer calm, clear, flexible, tailored advice and guidance. Whether in the form of educational support, meeting and paperwork preparation as well as talking, discussing and listening to you and your child’s challenges and experiences with neurodivergence.
